Participant Protection Policy

POLICY STATEMENT ON HARASSMENT

River City Rhythm is committed to creating and maintaining a learning environment for its youth participants, staff, and volunteers, which is free from any form of harassment. Harassment is a form of discrimination, and refers to conduct that adversely affects the learning environment or leads to adverse consequences within that environment for the person(s) experiencing harassment, which the perpetrator knew, or reasonably should have known, would be unwelcome. Harassment can take many forms, but generally involves conduct, comment or display that is insulting, intimidating, humiliating, hurtful, demeaning, belittling, malicious, degrading or otherwise causing offense, discomfort, personal humiliation or embarrassment to a person or group of persons.

CODE OF CONDUCT

All participants should:

  • Respect the dignity and spirit of all participants.

  • Not take part in any activity that may be considered harassing.

  • Avoid contact and language that may be interpreted to have sexual connotations.

  • Not participate or permit behavior that puts down, embarrasses or frightens others

NON-DISCRIMINATION

River City Rhythm expressly prohibits any and all discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, age, physical disability, veteran status or political service or affiliation.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT POLICY

Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature or related to a person’s sex when:

  • Submitting to or rejecting this conduct can affect decisions about the individual

  • The conduct has the purpose or effect of interfering with the individual’s performance

  • The conduct detrimentally affects the environment

STAFF/MEMBER RELATIONSHIPS

Relationships between members and staff must remain on a professional student/teacher basis. Staff members who develop what may be perceived as intimate or unprofessional relations with the members of any River City Rhythm youth organization will face immediate dismissal and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

REPORTING HARASSMENT / SAFE SPACE POLICY

All River City Rhythm participants are encouraged, and in some cases, obligated to report suspected discrimination or harassment. Such reports may be made to the Executive Director or any other person in a position of authority. The Executive Director is obligated to investigate and take appropriate action based upon the results of this investigation. Members may also report incidents anonymously through RCR’s online whistle-blower form.

Reporting an issue or Concern

We hope that members and staff feel unhindered and unthreatened in raising concerns, complaints, and issues. But, we also recognize that it is essential to provide an opportunity for confidential and anonymous submission of concerns, complaints, and issues, to ensure RCR has the full opportunity to investigate and address any potential violations of policy, law, or ordinance in the conduct of our activities.

You may report any concerns or issues by anonymous form via the button below.
